The discovery of the Standard Model Higgs Boson [1,2] is one of the primary goals of the
CMS Experiment. For a light Higgs Boson the dominant discovery channels have
either b-quarks, or tau-leptons or photons in the final states. The dominant
production mechanisms for SM Higgs bosons at hadron colliders are:
gluon-gluon fusion
discovery channels: H➔γγ
Vector boson fusion
discovery channels: H➔γγ, H➔τ⁺τ⁻
The right plot shows the invariant mass of the two reconstructed tau’s. The number of
entries is normalised to the expected number of events at an integrated luminosity
of 30/fb [3].
The production cross sections

the LHC [1].
